Modernización del examen diagnóstico de matemáticas en alumnos de nuevo ingreso a la ESIQIE – IPN, usando software libre

Abstract

Este documento presenta los resultados de un proyecto académico que inició el 2013, cuyo objetivo fue usar una plataforma informática para agilizar la evaluación diagnóstica de conocimientos de Matemáticas y aplicarla, en la semana de iniciación, a los alumnos de nuevo ingreso de las carreras que se imparten en la ESIQIE – IPN. Esta experiencia fue de tipo exploratoria y piloto y el examen en línea se aplicó a una muestra por conveniencia de alumnos de las tres carreras. Esta modernización implicó la necesidad, por parte de los autores, de conjugar conocimientos en informática y pedagogía aunados a los del área de Matemáticas a profundidad. El montaje del examen en MOODLE permitió obtener datos e información del conocimiento de los alumnos y entregarla de manera inmediata a los docentes, para establecer estrategias específicas y nivelar los conocimientos previos de los alumnos que cursarán varias asignaturas de Matemáticas durante sus carreras.

This document presents the results of an academic project that began in 2013, whose objective was to use a computer platform to accelerate the diagnostic evaluation of Mathematics knowledge and to apply it, in the week of initiation, to the new students of the courses that are taught in the ESIQIE - IPN. This experience was of an exploratory and pilot type and the online exam was applied to a sample for the convenience of students of all three professional careers. This modernization implied the need, on the part of the authors, to combine knowledge in computer science and pedagogy together with those in the field of Mathematics in depth. The assembly of the exam in MOODLE allowed to obtain data and information of the knowledge of the students and to give it immediately to the teachers, to establish specific strategies and to level the previous knowledge of the students who will attend several subjects of Mathematics during their careers.
