Vanguardismo, revolución y modernidad: Return ticket de Salvador Novo

Abstract

Las vanguardias artísticas invadieron el suelo latinoamericano a principios del siglo XX. Como una voz propia e independiente de las vanguardias europeas, las hispanoamericanas crearon su propio mundo, sus temas y sus obras. Dentro del amplio y variado repertorio de los movimientos vanguardistas en América Latina se produjo en los años veinte del siglo pasado una pléyade de escritores y artistas que se movieron entre la tradición y la modernidad, entre el pasado, presente y futuro. Ellos fueron la generación de los Contemporáneos. Uno de ellos, Salvador Novo, escribió una pequeña novela Return ticket (1928), que muestra un viaje interior y a la vez un viaje por los caminos de los principios revolucionarios.

The vanguards invaded Hispanic America at the beginning of the xx century. As an own echo, independent from the European vanguards, the Latin Americans created their own world, their themes and their works. Inside the large repertoire of the vanguardist movements in Hispanic America it produced, in the twenty’s of the late century, a pleiad of writers that were between the tradition and the modernity, the past, the present and the future. They were the generation of the Contemporaries. One of them, Salvador Novo, wrote a short novel: Return Ticket (1927). The novel shows the internal journey and, at the same time, the journey through the paths of the revolutionary principles.
