In a body of water, sediments are important, since they act as sources of metal contamination, being bioavailable in the face of physicochemical changes. In this study, the bioavailability of Cu and Cr in surface sediments of the Tlacoapa river, in the municipality of Coscomatepec in the state of Veracruz, was evaluated. 4 sampling points were chosen along the river, the characterization of the sediment, total metals and geochemical distribution was carried out. The results obtained indicate high sand content, very little organic matter; total Cu and Cr concentrations exceed criteria (CEQG, MOE and EPA). Based on the geochemical distribution, Cu was adsorbed in: F4> F2 >> F3> F6> F1 and for Cr F6> F4> F3> F5> F2> F1 was obtained.
