Muerte y poder en los lugares de memoria sobre la Intervención Francesa y el Segundo Imperio : el caso del Mausoleo Franco Mexicano de Camarón, Veracruz

Abstract

El artículo analiza cómo algunos espacios urbanos que tuvieron conexión con la Intervención Francesa y el Segundo Imperio fueron derruidos para evitar el ejercicio de la memoria, sin embargo se erigieron otros cuya finalidad conmemorativa tuvo que ver con la reconciliación entre Francia y México. Se pone énfasis en el caso del Mausoleo Franco Mexicano, espacio en el cual el estoicismo con el que los legionarios franceses enfrentaron la muerte se convirtió en la virtud que mereció ser recordada a través de un monumento. Abstract: The article analyzes how some urban spaces that had connection with the French intervention and the Second Empire were demolished to prevent the exercise of memory, however were others whose commemorative purpose had to do with the reconciliation between France and Mexico. Emphasis is placed in the case of Mexican French mausoleum, space in which, the stoicism with which the French Legionnaires fought death, became the virtue that deserved to be remembered through a monument.
