Respuesta germinativa de las semillas de Escontria chiotilla (F.A.C. Weber ex K. Schum) Rose, almacenadas durante cuatro años

Abstract

En la conservación de las semillas es importante considerar sus características y la condición de almacenamiento. Escontria chiotilla es una especie endémica de México susceptible de ser conservada. En este trabajo se determinó si la temperatura, peso y reducción en contenido de humedad, afectaron la capacidad germinativa de las semillas almacenadas de E. chiotilla. Se utilizaron semillas preservadas, durante 4 años, a dos condiciones de temperatura: de -20 ºC y de 23± 2°C, con peso de 0.46, 0.49 y 0.58 mg y con un contenido de humedad de 6% y 8%. Se sembraron 100 semillas con 5 repeticiones en agar agar al 1%, con un fotoperiodo de 12 h, una temperatura de 32 ± 2ºC/ y 20 ± 2º día/ noche. Los resultados mostraron diferencia de germinación, atribuida al peso y contenido de humedad. Las semillas de 0.58 mg almacenadas a temperatura ambiente y con 6% de humedad obtuvieron el máximo porcentaje de germinación (95%).

In this work it was determined if the temperature, weight and reduction in moisture content, affected the germinative capacity of the stored seeds of Escontria chiotilla. Seed stored were used, during 4 years, in temperature of -20 º C and 23 + 2 º C with weight of 0.46, 0.49 and 0.58 mg and moisture content of 6% and 8%. 100 seeds were sown with 5 replications in 1 % agar, photoperiod of 12 H, temperature of 32 ± 2 º C / and 20 ± 2 º day / night. The seeds showed difference between germination; attributed to the weight and moisture content, the maximum germination (95%) was presented by the seeds of 0.58 mg stored at room temperature and moisture content of 6%.
