Abstract

Desde hace varios años, con el crecimiento de los lectores que se acostumbraron a consumir títulos de literatura infantil y juvenil , la literatura para jóvenes y adolescentes en México ha comenzado a cobrar forma y fuerza: existen, cada vez más, colecciones sólidas de este tipo de literatura, así como autores que se han consagrado a ella. Sin embargo, las características de este tipo de narrativa, aunada a las ciertas deformacionesy peculiaridades del mercado editorial mexicano, obligan hoy a hacer un altoen el camino y a repensar las formas y caminos que habrá de seguir en el futuro. As readers and consumers of the young children’s literature in Mexico have grown, they’ve also developed a taste for books written and produced especially for them, and thus have begun to ask for them. As a response, YA literature in Mexico has bloomed, especially during the first decade of this century: series have been created, authors have been groomed, marketing skills have been honed. However, due to a conflicting combination of both the qualities of YA literature, and the perverse and complicated traits of the Mexican book arena, a need rises today to make a halt, and reconsider the ways and means for the future in terms of Mexican YA.
