Ventana al paisaje cultural: Una propuesta de conservación y restauración paisajística del atrio del conjunto religioso San Francisco de Asís en Atizapán de Zaragoza, Estado de México

Abstract

El objetivo de esta investigación es explorar el significado cultural y natural de uno de los espacios públicos más representativos del antiguo centro de Atizapán de Zaragoza, el atrio de la iglesia de San Francisco de Asís, en el Estado de México, que data de finales del siglo XVIII. El primer acercamiento refiere al estudio histórico del bien patrimonial en estrecha relación con las funciones estéticas, simbólicas y ecológicas que se desarrollan en el espacio público abierto, el atrio, lugar que da una cálida bienvenida al usuario. Es necesario, sin embargo, comprender conceptos como paisaje y sus variantes, sistemas ambientales y naturales, principios y problemáticas del diseño, por mencionar algunos, los cuales se aplicarán a las actividades que se desarrollan día a día en el atrio inmerso en un entorno urbano caótico. Estos conceptos ayudarán a analizar la evolución del atrio a través del tiempo para descubrir el espíritu del lugar, el genius loci, se usarán herramientas metodológicas y con la ayuda de los componentes básicos de la Arquitectura del Paisaje, se identificarán las problemáticas socioculturales que generen disonancias, que demeritan el disfrute armónico del espacio abierto y, en consecuencia, ocultan el valor patrimonial, natural y cultural que amenaza este recinto tan importante para la comunidad. Una vez cumplidos estos objetivos se podrán satisfacer las necesidades que enriquecerán la unidad espacial a través de la conceptualización de propuestas de diseño que devuelvan la calidad paisajística al atrio para contemplar la búsqueda de la conservación y gestión, así como temas legales para asegurar su protección, con miradas consientes al pasado, al presente y al futuro, no solo con la justificación de su valor como patrimonio nato, sino también para el beneficio ambiental que se genera en favor de los usuarios.

This research explores the cultural significance of one of the public spaces of the old center of Atizapan of Zaragoza. The atrium and the church of Saint Francis of Assisi, in the State of Mexico, dating from the end of the century XVIII. An architectural complex with enormous historical richness where it is important to enhance the origins and the preponderant role in which they are part of the daily life of the community and its visitors. The study has been employed to analyze the evolution and function of the atrium space in comparison to what has become nowadays. Therefore, it is a deteriorated space that needs a landscape recovery in order to enrich its visual quality to recover the cultural and natural value as historical heritage. It is necessary, however, to understand concepts such as landscape and its variants, environmental and natural systems, principles and problems of design, to name a few, which will be applied to the activities that take place day by day in the atrium immersed in an urban environment chaotic. These concepts will help to analyze the evolution of the atrium through time to discover the spirit of the place, the genius loci, methodological tools will be used and with the help of the basic components of Landscape Architecture, sociocultural problems that generate dissonances will be identified, that demerit the harmonious enjoyment of the open space and, consequently, they hide the patrimonial, natural and cultural value that threatens this area so important for the community. Once these objectives are met, the needs that will enrich the spatial unit can be satisfied through the conceptualization of design proposals that return the landscape quality to the atrium to contemplate the search for conservation and management, as well as legal issues to ensure its protection, with Conscious glances at the past, present and future, not only with the justification of its value as natural heritage, but also for the environmental benefit that is generated in favor of users.
