Él es el gurú de las jóvenes lésbicas, inglesas y francesas, que escriben acerca de ese tema entre 1900-1910. La escritora francesa Renée Vivien, aunque no es la primera escritora de la literatura lésbica francesa, sí es de las primeras que vive, escribe y asume su homosexualidad en sus escritos y en las calles de París.
