Se argumenta su pertinencia en el contexto latinoamericano a partir de la posibilidad que el teatro, organizado en comunidades concretas, brinde oportunidades para una construcción simbólica alternativa al discurso hegemónico, que permitan percibir la realidad como transformable.This text is an attempt to update the characterization of the theater as a mirror of concrete realities. From a critical perspective, the Community Theater is characterized as a source of aesthetic pleasure and social development.
