- Intervención metacognitiva en el aula virtual a través del uso de las herramientas de comunicación de la plataforma Dokeos 2.1(Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (México). Unidad Azcapotzalco. Coordinación de Servicios de Información., 2013-04) Burgos, MarcelaThe general objective is to design and to carry out a pilot study of a Metacognitive Intervention for the virtual classroom through the use of communication tools of the Dokeos 2.1 plataform. This research unites the Dokeos 2.1 technology with the Metacognition construct in order to answer the research questions: Which are the digital basic skills that the students use on the computer?; What is the frecuency use of the communication tools? and What is the role of metacognition in the virtual classroom through the use of the communication tools in the Dokeos 2.1 plataform? Methodology: This is an exploratory, observational and transversal study. A convenience sample of students of which 12 were women and 13 were men was drawn at the Universidad Autonoma Metropolitana-Azcapotzalco. A questionnaire about the use of digital tools was administered to the subjects. This questionnaire provides a diagnose on their skills for using digital tools, adaptation of Weintein’s strategies for learning and studying (LASSI), and the freuqnecy of tool use when using the Dokeos 2.1 plataform. Results: The subjects have developed the Remembering criterion the most, whereas Analizing was the least developed. The results from the inventory (LASSI) indicate that Concentration was the lowest marked during the stages of Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation. On the other hand, Goals and Anxiety marks increased. At an individual level, the tools that were used the most were Chat, Documents and Groups; with an average of 0.8 times. However, Forum and Notes were the least utilized (0.56 or less). Conclusion: In a virtual classroom the communication tools are the metacognitive interactive agents which support knowledge and the student’s understanding.
