Diseño de personajes digitales
Abstract
La presente investigación, ofrece una descripción al interesado en el diseño de personajes y sus funciones narrativas, esta contiene en su primer capítulo una revisión de la teoría de los arquetipos postulada por Carl Gustav Jung, Joseph Campbell y Vladimir Propp, en el segundo capítulo se revisa la constante repetición y paralelismo de personajes en diversas narrativas como la mitología, la literatura, el cine, el comic la animación, los video juegos y las redes sociales. En su tercer capítulo ofrece una guía para diseñar personajes por medio del análisis de las características tanto físicas como psicológicas en ejemplos de las narrativas mencionadas. La descripción literaria y el dibujo de un personaje otorgan firmes bases para diseñar un personaje y permite pensar en qué medio se va a desarrollar. Por otra parte, se revisa el caso particular de la mascota institucional de la Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana y su problemática de diseño, representación, simbolismo y comunicación en relación con la comunidad universitaria, a fin de revisar si este personaje cumple o no con su función narrativa de acuerdo con el análisis de las funciones de los personajes tratadas por Vladimir Propp. Se plantea la posibilidad de integrar una nueva UEA dentro del plan de estudios de la licenciatura en Diseño de la Comunicación Gráfica impartida en esta casa de estudios, con el propósito de complementar no solo las UEAs dedicadas a la Animación sino a la licenciatura en general, puesto que encontramos personajes en prácticamente todos los campos de estudio del diseño y las disciplinas con las que tienen relación. Finalmente se ejemplifica cómo diseñar un personaje en un entorno digital a manera de guía para aquellos interesados en el diseño de personajes y sus funciones narrativas.
