Historia e intervención en Temozón Sur, una hacienda henequenera de Yucatán

Aportar referencias teóricas y prácticas al problema de intervenir en edificios históricos para ser restaurados y adecuados a usos distintos a los que le dieron origen, es el principal propósito de este estudio. Las antiguas haciendas henequeneras del Estado de Yucatán son analizadas desde una perspectiva histórica y arquitectónica general para darle el contexto necesarios al caso particular de análisis: La Ex hacienda de Temozón Sur, su historia específica y la exposición y revisión de los criterios y directrices aplicados en intervención practicada durante 1996 a 1998, mediante la cual fue adecuada como hotel de categoría especial. La principal hipótesis de esta Tesis pretende responder a una inquietud personal del autor. Algunos años después de haber participado directamente en los trabajos de intervención, éste se plantea la necesidad de evaluar los trabajos realizados, encuadrarlos en el marco histórico, darles sustento teórico y proponer una metodología aplicable a otros casos similares .Lo anterior con la intención de verificar si la adecuación como hotel de la antigua hacienda Temozón, ayudó a la conservación del conjunto arquitectónico y sus edificaciones componentes. Ello sin la alteración sustancial de sus principales características espaciales adquiridas en la época henquenera, que en su momento fue parte de los principales objetivos de la intervención. Se trata en suma de análisis crítico desde el enfoque de la investigación académica sumando a un análisis descriptivo desde el enfoque de interés profesional. Su fin último es documentar una experiencia real para orientar íntegramente a otros estudiosos o profesionistas, en futuros trabajos de intervención en edificios similares, independientemente del nuevo uso para éstos.
