Textile dyes are persistent contaminants that are difficult to remove and damage the aquatic ecosystem to which they are released; therefore in this work, advanced oxidation methods were used in order to degrade Black Eriocrome T (NET) dye in aqueous solution and to evaluate the levels of removal of the dye at different pH. Heterogeneous pothocatalysis and ozonation were used, proving their effectiveness by the kinetics of color degradation obtained by ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometry (UV-Vis) and the reduction of the organic load (COD) that underwent the colorant solution during oxidation. The color concentration in both processes was reduced by more than 90 percent and up to 40 percent in COD, noting that both processes are very efficient for color degradation.
