Abstract
Popol Vuh (1966), is a tragicomedy written by Luisa Josefina
Hernández inspired on the Mayan myth. However, it is not only an
adaptation for theatre, but that the author displays all its technical
capabilities with two purposes: one particular, as pointed out by the
critics, is to awaken national pride in the viewer, and one general to
show the playfulness of the myth through the use of tragicomedy
genre and highlighting the struggle between life and death. Is in this
general overview in which this study focuses, for in it lies much of
the value of the theatrical work. Palabras clave / Key words: dramaturgia mexicana, dramaturgia
