Since long time ago new alternatives for the synthesis of hydrotalcites have been investigated, being the microwave-assisted technique, a fast and efficient alternative to obtain various materials. In this work a Cu/Al hydrotalcite (3: 1) with crystalline structure was synthesized by microwave-assisted treatment, under milder conditions than those reported in the literature, the corresponding mixed oxide was then obtained. Both materials were characterized by X-ray diffraction, infrared spectroscopy and nitrogen fisisorption. Then, the Cu/Al hydrotalcite and its mixed oxide, were used as catalysts in the reaction to obtain a triazole derived from benzimidazole. The product was fully identified.
