Luis Valdez, padre del teatro chicano con la creación de los Actos como denuncia política y conciencia social, da un giro a su producción con Zoot Suit. En esta obra incursiona en los hechos históricos más que en las relaciones laborales asimétricas. En medio del caso Sleepy Lagoon y los disturbios angelinos pondera la figura del pachuco; en este ensayo se rescata la participación femenina al lado de éste.
