There are a great variety of antioxidants that are currently used in the cosmetic industry to capture free radicals in the world. One of the most used for this purpose is precisely ferulic acid (AF). Free radicals can act with antioxidants through seven mechanisms, one of them is the formation of radical adducts (RAF, for its acronym Radical Adducts Formation). In this work, we study the behavior of AF in the presence of the free radical •OH from the RAF mechanism. We find the formation of the most stable and probable adduct between AF and the •OH radical, as well as the transition state that connects the reactants with the product, [AF - OH]• adduct, the value obtained when determining the activation energy turns out to be very small.
