In recent years the e-Waste has become an alternative for the recovery of base and precious metals. In this work, a methodology to selectively recover Cu with sodium citrate solutions and hydrogen peroxide was studied. The material used for testing was EWPCB from cellphones with a high metallic content (> 90%). Carbonate and phosphate ions ( CO32- y PO43- respectively) were used to inhibit Fe and Pb dissolution, which accumulate in the leaching solutions and contaminate the final product. Through thermodynamics analysis (Cit- CO32-and Cit- PO43-− systems), colorimetric study and experimental leaching tests where the effect of pH and PO 4 3− concentration were evaluated, it was demonstrated that PO43- suppressed Fe and Pb dissolution. The most selective conditions were: 0.5 M Cit, 0.1 M H₂O₂, 0.2 M (NH₄)₃PO₄, 20 g EWPCB/L, pH=4.0 at room temperature, achieving a recovery of 60% Cu with 41% Fe and 4% Pb.
