The development that ICTs have achieved in recent years demands a paradigm shift in educational practices, which implies an update of these in order to meet the requirements of the new information society. One of the factors that can be considered is to use mobile devices in learning environments, due to their increasing distribution, the adaptation of cell phones in society without distinction of age, independence of socioeconomic status or activities to which the being is dedicated human, and the possibility of impacting the education of students without limits of space, place or time. In the learning of Chemistry, which is taught in the Basic Sciences Division of the Faculty of Engineering of the UNAM, the use of ICT represents a tool that favors the learning of concepts related to phenomena not observable to the naked eye, such as case of the structure of the atom. The use of simulators related to the topic of atomic structure facilitates the development of certain basic skills related to scientific behavior, problem solving, handling and treatment of information, and allows complementing traditional teaching.
