ABSTRACT: My purpose is to pay tribute to Rubén Darío on the century of his death. The book Los raros, in its second edition (Paris, 1905) is the starting point for this work. Darío chose twenty-one brilliant, uncommon and strange writers to shape the body of that work. The group just includes a woman, Rachilde, who caught my attention. From the biographical sketch that Darío makes about her, I mention some reviews from her time and from others contemporary women. The first reviews were made by men and the second critiques were made mainly by women; as we imagine the ways to read the controversial work of Rachilde, this fin the siècle writer, has changed radically since the nineteenth century to date.
