Entre la piedra y la flor : la voz social y poética de Octavio Paz

Abstract

La trayectoria política de Octavio Paz ha sido controvertida por lo que ha producido en sus ensayos de El laberinto de la soledad o El ogro filantrópico, y se ha querido definir su personalidad como dos caras de la moneda: el crítico social y el poeta; sin embargo, en su poesía se combinan estas dos imágenes del intelectual y creador al mismo tiempo. Es el poeta que piensa y el hombre que contempla una realidad para expresarla a través de la palabra. El presente ensayo destaca el proceso creativo del poema Entre la piedra y la flor, en donde se aprecia la imagen del poeta como un creador y activista político a la vez. Se analiza su estructura y el estilo de los versos en torno al campesino maya y el cultivo del henequén. ABSTRACT: The political career of Octavio Paz has been controversial for what has occurred in their essays The Labyrinth of Solitude or Philanthropic ogre, and has wanted to define his personality as two sides of the coin: the social critic and poet; however, in his poetry combine these two images of the intellectual and creative simultaneously. He is the poet who thinks and the man who contemplates a reality to express it through words. This paper highlights the creative process of the poem between the stone and flower, where the image of the poet is seen as a creative and political activist at a time.
