ABSTRACT: The political career of Octavio Paz has been controversial for what has occurred in their essays The Labyrinth of Solitude or Philanthropic ogre, and has wanted to define his personality as two sides of the coin: the social critic and poet; however, in his poetry combine these two images of the intellectual and creative simultaneously. He is the poet who thinks and the man who contemplates a reality to express it through words. This paper highlights the creative process of the poem between the stone and flower, where the image of the poet is seen as a creative and political activist at a time. Structure and style of the verses around the mayan peasant and sisal cultivation is discussed. PALABRAS CLAVE: Educación. Política. Creación. Símbolo. Henequén. Hombre. KEY WORDS: Education.
